Wandering Mess known as Swamp

Swamp wanders hopelessly. His tail drags behind him and he doesn't care where he is going. In fact, he seems to be going in circles. Mud, leaves and twigs are stuck to his fur and his lifeless eyes scan the surrounding area without even noticing details.

Her head jerks to a side as she looks at Swamp. The squirrel shakes around limply in her jaws at the force of the movement of her head. "You okay? Is your wound hurting again?" She asks. She watches him with a hint of worry in her eyes.

He takes a deep breath. "my wound isn't the problem, it's my mind," he says. Sadness taints his voice again and he looks at the ground. "I remembered a nice day Storm, Fellry and I had," he tells her.

She sighs and continues walking with him slowly. "Just take it in. Gradually it'll go away. My brother always used to tell me not to get stuck living in the past." She looks on ahead. "Don't worry, the hunting grounds is not far from here. Maybe you just needed a little fresh air?"

He takes a deep breath and focuses on just putting one paw in front of the other. "it's hard to not live in the past when some of your best days will always be just a memory," he says quietly.

She sighs. "That's why we are alive now. To make the best of it. Everybody has bad days, Swamp. Some are just a little rougher than others. Half of your life is that you're alive. What matter is what you do with you're life."

He nods and doesn't answer until they're at the hunting ground. "Thanks, Snow," he says. "good luck hunting." He lies down in the shade of an oak tree to watch her hunt.

She smiles and glances at him. "Your welcome." "And thanks." She padded around and scented the air, making sure the wind wasn't blowing towards her. She then glanced around for prey. She saw a small vole making its way across the grass. She smirked. This'll be easy. She skipped/ran to the vole and pounced, but the vole scurried away to quickly and her paw swept up a ton of dirt. "Foxdung" she muttered underneath her breath. Quickly regaining her balance, she spotted a mouse and pounced again. It took a while to die, but then she finished it off with a quick bite to the neck. She made another raspberry sound with her muzzle and dropped the limp mouse by a tree, looking around for something bigger.

Swamp's eyes were intently watching Snow. He was trying hard not to focus on the past but it wasn't easy. Even now all he could think about was how much Storm would have liked Snow. "Storm get out of my mind," he muttered. "I'm sorry you died but... I have to live." His quiet voice seemed to travel strangely well and he hoped Snow hadn't heard.

A large, muscular fox trots into range of Swamp and Snow, it's eyes floating over to them both. It growls hungrily as it bares it's teeth at the both of them. It's mouth starts to foam slightly as it goes for the wounded cat- Swamp.

Swamp doesn't notice the fox. For some reason his thoughts of Storm are blocking his ability to sense the danger, let alone the reek of fox. His eyes are focused on Snow, even though he isn't really pay attention to her.

Snow glances at the fox once and looks back at the prey then glances another time, her eyes wide. She gasps at the site of the fox and shouts out at Swamp. "SWAMP! SWAMP, LOOK BEHIND YOU!" She ran over and pounced the fox, clawing and biting away at it's back to at least make it redirect it's attention towards her. "Stop! I won't let you hurt him!"

Swamp is jerked to awareness as he hears Snow's shouting. He looks around and he locks in on the fox and Snow. "SNOW!" He yells. He leaps to his feet. Searing pain hits his side and he stumbles toward Snow to help her.


OOC: Swamp you dunce... Just run away before it kills you

The fox howls furiously. It shook vigorously and managed to shake the other cat off into a tree. It focused back on the wounded cat and chased it, managing to grip onto its tail and tug with all the force in its jaws.

Snow flies across the clearing and her back hits a tree. She grunts loudly and several leaves fall on her. Although blood begins dripping down the side of her mouth, she stood slowly and rushed over again, this time running in front of the fox and slapping it with her claws. "SWAMP! GET OUT OF HERE! YOU'RE TOO HURT TO FIGHT! I'LL CHASE IT OFF!"

He yelped as the fox bit his tail and struggles to free himself. His claws grip the earth as the fox attempts to pull him back and he kicks up with his back legs spraying the fox with dirt. At that moment he rips himself free, ignoring the pain in his tail and limps away.

The fox growls as the dirt his his face and howls at the deep claws entering his face and begins to run away, it's tail between it's legs. It glances back every while.

Snow chases closely behind the fox, growling and shouting at it. She follows it into a dark clearing but quickly realizes the mistake she's made. She should have just flee from the start. She turns and begins to run away but then feels a sharp pain in her back, tugging. "UGGH! LET ME GO!" She kicks and screams but can't get away from the powerful enemy.

Swamp looks back as he hears Snow yelling at the fox to let her go. "She's in trouble," he mutters. Ignoring the pain he half runs, half limps to her aid. His wound has re opened and he's leaving a trail of blood but he doesn't notice.

The fox bites onto her back harder and pulls her back, holding onto her sides with it's sharp claws. It was determined to kill this cat, and nothing could hold it back. He scratched harder until it could feel the moisture of the cats blood on its claws.

Snow screams in agony at the feeling of the flesh on her sides being scratched and teared with the foxes sharp claws. She reacted quickly and bit it on its neck, holding on tightly. She squeezed her eyes shut as she bit as hard as she can. The blood from the foxes neck stated to fall on her head but she just continues to bite.

Swamp bursts into the dark clearing and quickly assesses the situation. His mind isnt thinking clearly, somewhat due to a bit of blood loss, rage and fear. "HEY YOU NASTY PIECE OF BADGER DUNG! KEEP YOUR CLAWS OFF OF HER!" He half yells, half growls. With that, he launches himself at the fox, determined to protect Snow.

Snow gasps as the fox stumbles off of her and she lands on the ground with a thud. She notices Swamp and jumps towards him, pushing him away from the fox. "Don't!" She pushes him away from the clearing. "JUST GO!" "I'll be fine! You're bleeding to much! I can't let you die! If you fight now, you won't get out of here in one piece!" She dodges an attack from the fox and leaps again, this time aiming for its side.

The fox growls as he sees Snow trying to wound him on the side and jumps towards Swamp. The other cat jumps in front of him just in time and he slashes her instead with all his power and force. Looking at the bloody mess he just made, he jumped out of a bush of undergrowth and disappeared.

Swamp watches the fox leave. He's too in shock to do much else. The pain in his side grips him and he looks at Snow's body. A tear slips from his eye and he stares at her. "Snow? Snow are you okay? Say something... Anything," he says, his voice trembling over the words.

A large puddle of blood appears around Snow, and the slice in her side pours blood, just enough to reach Swamp's paws. She says nothing, not a word. Just lays motionless in the puddle of blood.
