Frightened and Expecting - The former kittypet

Disturbed dirt puffed into the air as the aching paws of a heavily expecting feline dragged herself through the unclaimed forest. Despite her exhaustion, the she-cat's yellow eyes were wide and alert. Her swollen belly swayed gently as she came to a halt and stiffened. Fear scent rushed off of her prickling, gray and white pelt. The she's head turned to face the trees, swallowing a frightened whimper.

Buzzard's amber eyes widened at the expecting she-cat and he nearly fell out of his hiding spot in the trees. Why would a pregnant she-cat pull herself through the forest like that? He shook his head and slowly half climbed half fell down the tree; landing rather ungracefully.

Frosty jumped in surprise at the sudden appearance of the tom, nearly toppling over. The bell attached to her collar jingled at her jerky movements. Her gray neck fur fluffed up as she stumbled backwards frighteningly, wide eyes staring at the other cat. "Who-who are y-you?" she stuttered nervously, ears flattened.

The tom eyed her collar with narrowed eyes. She's a kitty-pet! He shook his head and replied, "I'm Buzzard. You?" Behind him, his tail lashed in its own private storm on shock.

"F-Frosty.." she replied shakily, watching his every movement. "B-Buzzard? What's that?" her whiskers quivered nervously.

He chuckled darkly, "A Buzzard is a bird that eats carrion." Even though he tried not to remember, this she-cat reminded him of his friend from two-leg place who was killed by the dog. Why does everyone I get close to die? he asked himself silently. Snapping out of his saddened trance, he looked at the she-cat and mewed, "If you need a den to stay in, mine is not far away. I got a bit of crow left over from yesterday." He gave his best attempt at a warm smile and failed miserable. The last thing he wanted was to scar the kitty-pet away, And, he thought, it has been so long since I have had a visitor.

Thistle walked nearby smiling darkly.I could steal that crow..but I'd rather catch my own He spotted a crow a few fox lengths away and lightly stalked up on it.Then he pounced.He gave it a quick bite to the neck and ate it.

Her stiffened body relaxed slightly, surprised at his offer. "R-Really? Th...Thanks," Frosty managed a faint smile, though the smile disappeared as another cat's scent ran through her nose. The feline's yellow eyes widened, fur beginning to prickle once more.
