Ice is exploring

Ice moved slowly and silently, keeping her eyes open for movement. She was rather hungry and there was no way she was eating crow food. At the moment she didn't care what she ate, so long as it was meat. Her stomach rumbled and she hissed. She hated noises she made, even if it couldn't be helped.

A light brown cat with black stripes padded through the area, the curiosity glowing in his eyes turning wary as he scanned this bare area. This isn't anything like the forest, he thought to himself,flattening an ear. Maybe I should turn back... I don't like this place one bit. Twig finally decided, about to turn around and head back the way he came.

Ice whirled around as she sensed the intruder in her space. She almost demanded to know who it was but changed her mind and crept closer. It was a tom, he seemed like he could be a threat but she pushed it aside, more wondering if he had a nice juicy squirrel nearby.

He raised a paw to go back, but froze when another cat's scent filled his nostrils. Setting his paw back down, the cat turned around. His yellow eyes were surprised when he saw the other cat. "Oh, hello!" the tom meowed, offering a wide smile. He was glad to have found someone to possibly create conversation with.

Ice was disappointed that she had forgotten to mask her scent. She darted forward to get a better look at the tom. "Hmmph... Hello," she said. She tried to force her voice to sound pleasant but her hunger was tearing at her stomach, and her mind a little. She wondered how cat tasted, before shoving the thought from her mind.

The grin stayed put on his muzzle, gaining confidence that this cat was friendly. "What's your name? I'm Twig." introducing himself, he kneaded his paws on the hard ground. "Are you from around here?" he suddenly added curiously, having loads of other questions prepared.

Ice ran the tom's words and tones through her mind. He probably wasn't a threat. "Hello Twig, I'm Ice," she said. Her voice wasn't hostile but it wasn't overly friendly. "I haven't been here long, just exploring new places."

He nodded with a smile. "I just arrived here a few days ago, after a long journey from the forest I used to live in." Twig meowed, adding, "By the way, I like your name, Ice." he flicked his tail.

Ice laughed inwardly; he was a hopeless happy cat. Clearly he hadn't goe made from seeing deaths and didn't picture how to kill a cat everytime he met one. Not that she always did, just sometimes. "Thank you," she answered. "Your um... Name is nice too." She regretted not paying more attention, stumbling over words wasn't something she enjoyed.

"Thanks," he replied, glancing around. "I was going to head back to the forest -- have you been there? It's much, much different than this area.. It's way greener, and has LOADS of prey. The only reason I ended up out here was because I was curious, so do you want to go with me? We could even catch a few pieces of prey, if you'd like." Twig concluded, anxious to get back.

Ice tilted her head, she hadn't been around very many cats who actually wanted her to keep being around them. It was probably because when cats turn up dead, they blame the newcomer. "umm... Are you sure you want me to come? You can go on your own if you want... It's just... Not many cats like me and you probably won't either when you get to know me," Ice responded. Fr some reason, no matter how hungry she was, she didn't really want to hurt this cat. He was too innocent.

He blinked, confused. "No, you should come," Twig meowed simply, "Why wouldn't I like you? You seem nice." he smiled slightly, turning around. "C'mon -- you won't believe how different it is there!" he flicked his tail, padding slowly back towards the forest.

"I've been to a forest before..." she muttered under her breath as she followed Twig. He didn't understand, but not a lot of cats did pick up on her secret. Deep down inside she was insane and enjoyed seeing the blood of other cats. It was strangely fun for her. "Twig," she said louder, "I'm not a very good hunter... Small prey is hard for me to catch."

He stopped and turned around towards her, "Hmm.. Don't worry, I bet I'll catch just enough for both of us, and you should try! You may catch something, you never know. There's a ton of prey right now, since new-leaf is here, so the chances of catching something is very high." he smiled, about to turn around and head back. "Alright?"

She nodded, a little unsure. Most of the time she stole other cats prey. After all, dead cats had never needed to eat. "If I can kill cats, I can kill a mouse," she muttered to herself. The phrase gave her confidence as she sniffed out some prey.

"Hmm?" Twig looked towards her, not hearing what she had said clearly. When he saw her begin to sniff around, he laughed lightly, "Ice, I don't think we'll catch much here.. I was talking about the forest. There's going to be way more prey there.." he meowed, wanting to go back. He didn't like this area at all.

"Still, there could be cats around here and I like to know what's going on around me," Ice told him, feeling a little stupid. "Can we hurry up? I'm starving..." She picked up her pace a little so she was walking beside Twig.

He nodded, happy to see that she wanted to go as much as he did. Twig gladly went along, noticing that the area they were in began to get greener, with many more trees and plants. "We're getting close!" with a smile, Twig sped up eagerly. He was relieved to be getting back, because the forest seemed so much more safe compared to the bare, dangerous place they had been at.

Ice nodded and moved faster to keep up with him. She knew she'd have o leave him soon, she didn't like to stay around cats too long. Something always went wrong and the deaths she saw came true. Usually because of her.

He turned his head to the side and smiled at her briefly, then turned back forward as they got further and further into the forest. Nothing was bare now. All the trees had bright green leaves, and plants had sprouted in almost every spot you looked.
